[Michael didn't have to give a great deal of thought to Rose's gift. He feels like he has a good read on her, for all that they haven't known each other very long. At any rate, he knows exactly what she's into.]
I hope these are useful for you. Happy human holiday time.
- Michael
[It's some medical textbooks! They're actually Michael's own from the courses he took - his memory is good enough that he doesn't feel he needs to hold onto them any longer. Maybe it's a little cheap to give them used, but he felt his notes in the margins might be helpful; they're all from the perspective of someone without a human body, even if some of them seem a little...morbid.]
[A messily-wrapped box, with Rose's name written directly on the colorful paper. There's a handmade card on top, decorated with stickers and doodles of wintry images like snow, gingerbread men, etc. It's not properly signed, but the signature isn't necessary. On one side of the interior:]
Tall green trees in lights twinkling bright, Sparkling strands of tinsel and snow pure white, The smell of hot cocoa and apple cider too, A very merry Candlenights, from Sayori to you!
[And then on the other side:]
These are magic apple seeds. The apples they grow make you really insightful and sharpen your memory. I brought these back after my first mission, but I never planted them because I was afraid I might do something wrong and kill them. But you're good at that stuff, so I think if you plant them they'll definitely grow! You should probably wait until we bring magic back, though.
[Inside the box is a pouch containing the seeds from one of Phandalin's magic green apples.]
[Rose goes looking for Sayori a little after finding the present Sayori left for her. The energy of the holiday alone seems to have brightened Rose's mood entirely, though she hadn't been nearly as hard-hit by the situation lately as everyone else.
Once she does find Sayori, she waves as if it would be possible to miss an eight-foot-tall woman.]
Sayori! Happy Candlenights! [And then, a little more quietly:] That's what you say for Candlenights, right?
[Rose is pleased with this response.] Oh, good, I wanted to get it right. And look, I got you a present!
[Rose pulls out a little bag of cookies. They theoretically are shaped like bows and arrows! The arrows came out better than the bows. She frosted them though! She used too much frosting! The colors kind of blend together in places! It's fine!]
[She delicately holds out both hands to receive this bag of cookies. She can't tell what shape they are at first; they look like abstract art. But there's a sentimental smile on her face nonetheless even before she figures it out. After a moment:] Gosh, did you make these just for me?
Mmhmm! I wasn't sure what would be a good present, but humans love cookies! [She seems very sure about this certified human fact.] Cookies are a little bit harder to make than I thought, but I think I did pretty good.
[Well, she's not actually sure she qualifies as a human, but:] Yeah! And Sayoris really love cookies!
[She takes 0.2 of a second to admire Rose's handiwork before shoving a whole bow-shaped cookie into her mouth in one go. It presses her cheeks out into a funny shape as she chews. It's not so much a cookie with frosting as it is frosting with some cookie underneath. It's cloyingly sweet. It might taste a little bit like vanilla or something? But it's mostly sugary frosting.
And Sayori loves it, of course. She talks around a mouthful of it.] These are so good! This was your first time making them??
Oh no! [RIP cookies!!] I wouldn't have minded if they were bad, I totally would have eaten them anyway. You should let me be your taste tester next time!
[She says as she is stuffing an arrow-shaped cookie into her mouth, before she's even swallowed all of the first one. Gross.]
[That's a good question!] I don't know! On Earth I think it would be New Year's? Which would be in a week...and then after that it's...Valentine's Day?
But I dunno if they're all the same here! [It's kind of weird that Candlenights and Christmas are on the same day, though, so maybe they have other similar holidays too...]
a few days before the 25th
I hope these are useful for you. Happy human holiday time.

She leans in conspiratorially as Rose lowers her voice, and then beams in approval.] Yeah, that's exactly right! Happy Candlenights, Rose!

[Also she was making several different kinds at once, but that's just efficient, maybe.]
